I must pause to say a sincere, heartfelt THANK YOU for all that you do. For not bending when the winds rush your way. For speaking up on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. For fully acknowledging that intactivism is a necessary component of gentle birth, human rights, and even of women's health. It is such an honor to have your site as one that I am able to send clients/friends/family to and never worry that they will get myths/misconceptions, or that they will be left hanging with a lack of information (as is ubiquitously the case today). Simply, thank you. For who you are and all that you do. The world is truly a better place because of you!

You're the one...
keep up the good fight for us all, past and future.

In the present you've been there for all the caring, thinking mothers who wanted more, and because of you, got it.

I'm honoured to know you, to be able to say I know you well enough to love ya...

      . . . . .

Gloria Lemay has been such a leader out on the West coast of Canada, she has stretched the boundaries of what is possible in birth and what we define as normal. When we rule the world she should get a medal and a huge pension.

     . . . . .

“I love you to the bones and back. To the moon and back. To the universe and beyond and back, and even MORE than that doubled and gazillioned.”

Nancy Wainer Cohen, midwife and author of “Silent Knife” and “Open Season”

Vancouver Midwifery Study Group.

The next Study Group begins Fri., Jan. 15, 2010 and extends into time about a year. It is 44 Friday evenings of instruction. 4 Semesters of 10 classes plus an exam on the 11th week of the semester for that period. Each semester costs $ 375 and fees must be paid in full on the first day of the semester.

This course is designed to support he education of women with families—we break during school holidays when the children are home. In 2010, the instructor will be away for most of the month of May so there will be a break then, too. Class begins promptly at 7 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. There is a dress code for the class—you are expected to look like a health professional in training. Pregnant women will be attending many of the classes to give students a chance to use models for various skill training.

The course is not for accreditation or government credentialing of any kind.
Students will proceed at varying pace through the classes and there will
be homework each week. To be accepted into the Study Group, students must submit letters of referral from at least two teachers, employers, or personal mentors.

Location: West 16th and Cambie area. Harmony Wellness Centre, 736 W. 16th Ave., Vancouver (between Cambie and Oak)
